The 12th annual Southbound has seen out the year in both festive and festival style! Around 10,000 campers and day trippers made the pilgrimage to the South West for three days of incredible music, unique entertainment, delicious eats and seriously fun times. With a chilled out vibe and a lot of love in the air, over 50 acts performed on the main stages to eager eyes and ears.
There were massive crowds for acts like Catfish And The Bottlemen, Tash Sultana, SAFIA, San Cisco, Sticky Fingers, Hermitude, Slumberjack, Peking Duk and at least 20 “shoeys” during The Bennies. The new Hightide stage showcased an array of emerging and established electronic and bedroom producer artists and was incredibly popular. There were weird and wonderful offerings at the new Commedia dell Southbound tent including an almost nude running race, live poetry and hypnotism. It’s been three days of escaping from the real world and switching off into three days of festival fun.
Organisers Sunset Events are thrilled that they’ve been able to deliver the festival in 2016, after the cancellation earlier this year, due to the devastating Yarloop fires. With the event generating an estimated $1.8mill into the economy of Busselton and surrounding areas, the support from the council, police and most importantly, the local community has been incredible.
Managing Director and Promoter Dave Chitty said;
“We’ve never felt more engrained into the South West Community than in 2016. It’s been a huge year of ups and and downs and we’d like to express our sincere thanks to the local community, stakeholders and patrons for going through this journey with us.”
The Sunset Events team wishes everyone a safe and happy New Year and will see you in 2017.
